Black and White

Black and White photography is among one of the most striking forms. Photos sans color require an enhanced use of lighting, shadows, and subject focus. Black and white photography brings out details usually overlooked in standard color photos. Subject studies is the discipline of concentration on one particular subject. Not quite still-lifes, though they share some similar qualities, subject studies focus on one particular object in view.

Beautiful Pictures of Churches

Amplifyd from abduzeedo.com

I really love those old, classic churches. It might be a tiny one in a village, or it might be a gigantic one that took many, many years to be completed. No matter what kind it is, I just know that some of these are so beautiful that they deserve to be appreciated by everyone.

So I went looking for some great pictures of beautiful churches… both in and outside, and got to see amazing shots of these beauties. Here’s my selection… I hope you all enjoy these. To check out the location of each, simply click at the picture to go the author’s flickrstream. Don’t forget to check their portfolio, also. Cheers! ;)

Tips for Focusing in the Dark

Amplifyd from www.beyondmegapixels.com
Taking a long exposure picture in dark conditions can be a challenge, because the camera’s auto-focus capabilities find it difficult to “see” a point of focus.
1. Use a flashlight to temporarily light up your subject (glow sticks work well, too).
2. Use your camera’s flash pulse, in the full-auto mode, to set the focus.
3. Set the lens to infinity
4. Focus on points of light that are at a similar distance to the subject

5. Remember, if you’re using your lenses auto focus capabilities to set the focus, to flip the switch to manual focus once the correct focus is achieved (to “lock the focus”). That way you won’t accidentally depress the shutter and kick in the auto focus again at the wrong moment.

7 Steps To Taking Clone Photographs

#1: Bring the Right Gear

Here’s what you’ll need to bring:

  • Camera (see below for requirements)
  • Tripod (as sturdy as possible)
  • Remote Shutter Release (optional, though recommended)
  • gearyoullneed

    #2: Setting Manual Exposure

    manualexposure

To keep your exposure identical between shots (assuming the lighting/weather isn’t changing), use manual exposure mode. Since you want everyone in the shot to be sharp, use a higher aperture to increase the depth of field. I used f/5.0, but feel free to go higher.

    #3: Setting Manual Focus

    manualfocus
Another thing that you want to keep constant in each of the photographs is the focus.

    #4: Determining Where You’ll Be

    montage

    #5: Taking the Pictures

  • Be careful not to disturb the camera
  • Start the timer by pressing the shutter button
Run to whatever location you determined
    Hold your pose
    Review the photo carefully
  • Repeat until finished
  • #6: Post-Processing the Images

    #7: Merging Everything Together
